THE NED SAUVIGNON BLANC, New Zealand   £22.95

Vibrant aromatic notes of lemongrass and Kaffir lime zest leap from the glass, leaving you in no doubt this is classic Waihopai Sauvignon Blanc. The citrus fuelled aromatic thread that dominates the nose, carries through to the palate with concentrated flavours of mandarin  and mushky pink grapefruit.

BOLAND CELLAR FIVE CLIMATE CHARDONNAY, South Africa   £19.95

The wine is a clear, bright, pale straw colour. Fresh, clean, delicate and fruity nose, it reveals attractive pear nuances accompanied by subtle hints of butter and toast along with additional suggestions of pineapple and lime as it opens in the glass. Light to medium-bodied, it is soft, round and supple on the palate, revealing a solid core of ripe fruit. Well-crafted and easy to enjoy, it all comes together nicely on a clean lingering finish.

BOLAND RESERVE CHENIN BLANC, South Africa   £24.95

Deep, bright gold. Super attractive nose with waves of tropical fruits, citrus and honeysuckle backing. Rich and full in the mouth with deep flavours and crisp acidity. All in fresh, youthful mode. Guava, granadilla and some mango with lots of citrus. Flavours seem to be endless as with everlasting finish. Great balance and keen texture. Delightful now yet will develop well.

Organically made without oak from a  small quality ridven Chablis estate. It displays soft, youthful fruit with mineral notes & a crisp, clean finish.

DOMAINE DE PELLEHAUT AMPELOMYRX, France   £22.95

This wine has a powerful, aromatic expression of white peach and dry apricot on the nose. The touch of vanilla is a sign of controlled ageing in cask. On the palate, the attack is dominated by the structure and fat of the Chardonnay, and the finish, by the freshness and elegance of Petit Manseng. A wonderful off-dry wine, remarkably well-balanced.

FAIRHALL CLIFFS SAUVIGNON BLANC, New Zealand   £21.95

This vineyard was planted in 1974 by John Marris and is officially the oldest surviving vineyard in Marlborough. These old vines start to give wines with more mineral characteristics – like Sancerre only on steroids.

BARVILLE COTES DU RHONE WHITE, France   £19.95

Pale, yellow with green hints. Aromas of exotic fruits, white flowers and citrus fruits. Wonderful complexity with notes of peach and apricot, this wine displays excellent freshness and length.

FARNESE EDIZIONE, Italy   £39.95

Very deep garnet red. Very intense and persistent with notes of cherry and blackcurrant, herbs, cinnamon, cloves, cocoa, liquorice and hints of mineral. Great structure, good balance between alcohol and freshness, velvety tannins, very persistent with a long finish, ready to drink, or can well be aged for long. Excellent with rich first courses, red meat and with medium and long-seasoned cheese.

SANTENAY 1ER CRU 2012 ROUGE, JACQUES GIRARDIN,   Burgundy £34.00

Family run estate based in Santenay producing fantastically flavoursome yet refined Pinot Noir.  The Pinot Noir grapes are harvested by hand at a parsimonious yield of 45 hectolitres per hectare. The average age of the vines is 40 years. After fermentation the wine spends 15 months in oak barrels.

LAVANDERA MERLOT,   Spain £15.95

This merlot has a beautiful silky mouth-feel, lush plummy fruit and an awesome finish. Nice and light on the old alcohol, too!

MICINA NERO d’AVOLA,   Italy £24.95

Deep ruby red, the aroma is full of red fruits and hints of spice, with a pleasant balsamic note.

A wine that includes aromas such as notes of jasmine & jalapeno along with citrus & tropical fruit including pink grapefruit & pineapple. The refreshing well-balanced, perfectly integrated palate shows impressive acidity & quite a long finish for a Sauvignon Blanc.

DE MARTINO ESTATE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2012, De Martino  Vineyard, Maipo Valley (Half Bottle)  £9.50

A pleasing estate bottled red wine made from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, full-bodied & showing plenty of ripe red fruit tastes.

MERLOT RESERVA, CEFIRO, Chile (Half Bottle)  £9.50

A youthful, expressive wine with a clean & fruity palate offering ripe tannins that blend perfectly with the soft sweet tones delivered by its nine months in barrel. Great with roast meats.

 


Dessert Wines

SICHEL SAUTERNES 375ml  £5.95

This is actually made at one of the most famous Sauterne producers. Starts off sweet but finishes nice and clean. Fabulous stuff.
