The wine is a clear, bright, pale straw colour. Fresh, clean, delicate and fruity nose, it reveals attractive pear nuances accompanied by subtle hints of butter and toast along with additional suggestions of pineapple and lime as it opens in the glass. Light to medium-bodied, it is soft, round and supple on the palate, revealing a solid core of ripe fruit. Well-crafted and easy to enjoy, it all comes together nicely on a clean lingering finish.

This vineyard was planted in 1974 by John Marris and is officially the oldest surviving vineyard in Marlborough. These old vines start to give wines with more mineral characteristics – like Sancerre only on steroids.

Family run estate based in Santenay producing fantastically flavoursome yet refined Pinot Noir. The Pinot Noir grapes are harvested by hand at a parsimonious yield of 45 hectolitres per hectare. The average age of the vines is 40 years. After fermentation the wine spends 15 months in oak barrels.
This merlot has a beautiful silky mouth-feel, lush plummy fruit and an awesome finish. Nice and light on the old alcohol, too!
